New series of paintings exploring self branding, and identity/gender representation(s) online. Based on actual profile images from social networking and online dating sites. Online it is accepted to be narcissistic and use filters and photo enhancing software to alter your appearance.
Profile images for social networking and online dating sites are not allowed to be sexually explicit but users can use any image to represent themselves. (often using images stolen from online). The use of cropping, phone or sunglasses to obscure the face and mask a persons identity is commonplace. Profile images can be inanimate objects, animals or a pic of their favorite celebrity (or ‘porn star’ for the online dating sites).
